The tournament welcomes back the twice European Cup winning club who, after winning the ‘scudetto’ for the third time in a row last season, have very much been the team to beat for several years now in Italy. José Mourinho, the outspoken Portuguese coach, recently signed a three-year contract with the Serie A champions and inherited a star ensemble including many top players such as former Ajax favourites Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Maxwell and Cristian Chivu, and will be re-united with super striker Hernan Crespo.
This coming season, all will be done to re-capture the European successes of the past. The last time Inter won a big European prize was in 1998, when the club added the UEFA Cup to their trophy list. What better way to start the new season push for honours, than by winning the LG Amsterdam Tournament 2008.
